Get Your Windows Ready for Winter
Winter is officially right around the corner, and you want your windows to be ready. Nothing ruins a cozy cup of hot cocoa like a frigid draft from a window. Estimates suggest that up to 30 percent of your home’s heating and cooling costs are a result of air leaking through windows. While any window covering will provide insulation, some coverings are much better than others. We’ve made a list of our favorite window treatments to keep the chill outside where it belongs.
Cellular Shades
Cellular shades, also known as honeycomb shades, are by far the most energy efficient window treatment. Duette® Honeycomb Shades from Hunter Douglas are the first of their kind to be engineered specifically to provide insulation. These shades are not only super functional, but they also step up the style of your window decor. Cell shades also reduce exterior noise by up to 70% to give your room a more peaceful atmosphere.
Draperies
Classic draperies are great for adding a layer of insulation over an existing window covering. Shutters
Shutters may not seem like an ideal solution for keeping cold air out, but shutters generally have fewer gaps than many other window treatments. Fewer gaps mean less spaces for unwanted air to enter.
